The 3rd CCSI Ecosystem Event took place in Struer – Denmark’s City of Sound – on 29–30 September 2025, bringing together researchers, artists, businesses and policymakers to explore the dynamics of glocal cultural and creative ecosystems. Hosted by Aarhus University with partners across Struer’s sonic landscape, the event highlighted collaboration across placemaking, sound art, heritage, design, technology, and education, reflecting the city’s growing role as a hub for sound-based innovation.
The first day focused on Struer’s cultural, educational, and artistic sound environment. Following the welcomes by the hosts at Sound Hub Denmark and by EIT Culture & Creativity CLC North. Participants were introduced to the City of Sound strategy and Education Initiative Struer, and the co-designing Ecosystem for Sound Design and Technology by Bang & Olufsen. The programme continued with a tour through the Sound Art Lab, a guided sound art city walk, and a visit to Struer Museum & SOKU, exploring listening cultures and Denmark’s national centre for sonic heritage.
The second day centred on innovation, industry, and technological perspectives. A morning visit to Sound Hub Denmark provided an inside look at sound tech acceleration, followed by a specially curated tour of Bang & Olufsen, where participants experienced a living company history of sound design and technology. We thank all participants – and especially all organisers and helpers – of this year's Ecosystems Event that gave everyone the opportunity for sharing ideas and enhancing networking in a creative and inspiring environment.
