Meet Our New Research Assistant

Rina Vijayasundaram is joining the Centre for Digital Transformation in Cities and Communities as research assistant

My name is Rina Vijayasundaram, and I am the new research assistant at DITCOM. I started as an intern in the beginning of the year and was recently hired as a part-timer. I’ve studied English and Information Studies and I’m interested in everything ‘smart’, which is why I wrote my master’s thesis on the maturity of Aarhus University’s Smart Campus project regarding the themes of innovation, sustainability, smart technology.

Drawing upon my studies, I have helped out with projects such as the ‘Public Eye’ application, made for a Horizon 2020 call, and the Masterclass for Thisted Municipality, and will aid in future projects for Smart City Cluster Denmark and PLURAL. I wish to continue this line of work and research and I am therefore aiming at doing a PhD on smart campuses or cities; the work at DITCOM is giving me invaluable experience that will greatly help me in this venture.

I am very laid-back as a person and love immersing myself in fiction and music. I hate going to the gym, so I play volleyball and badminton to keep fit instead, which I find much more enjoyable as I’m a very competitive person. I like being a part of something bigger, which is why I really like working at DITCOM as there’s always interesting people around and cool things to do.
